  WHY?  

The larynx can emit only the harmonics which the ear can hear.
"One speaks, sings, plays with the ear" showed Pr.A.A Tomatis, researcher internationally known, son of Umberto Tomatis, reputed lyric singer, following his research with singers.

Indeed, the ear has several functions:

a function of balance, space-time organization : it ensures body integration, the control of movements, posture, rhythm, swiftness and fluidity,

a function of analysis in height, tone, intensity of the sound,

 
      -

a function of dynamization of the brain : in particular the acute ones (harmonics) which gives this cortical load.

 
     

Moreover, the ear is in close connection with the nervous system and the neurovégétative life.

A sound is never pure but always complex.

It is constituted of a fundamental frequency and a sheaf consisting of other frequencies called harmonics and proportional to the fundamental one.

It was from the study of these proportions that Pythagore measured a scale of sound: the musical scale.

Two ears:
They have different functions: the right, director, ensures the aiming. The left gives an overall picture of surround sound.

Hearing/Listening:
Hearing is the perceptive capacity of the ear. Listening is what the subject makes of its hearing (to be compared with seeing and looking).

Listening (aimed) privileges frequencies between 2000 and 4000 Hertz, zone of the spectrum where a maximum of harmonics develop, allowing the subject to produce a sound of quality without effort.
